Sometimes chaos and mayhem are exactly what you need. It’s widely practised and encouraged for people to find calm and peace in their lives and in themselves. To find your Zen, we are encouraged to meditate and to learn to separate ourselves in order to bring an ease and comfort into ourselves.Escaping the often manic paced world around us is seen and promoted as a cure for it, to leave it all behind for a weekend away surrounded by nature, at the beach or in the bush. Whole industries have been built around escaping our hectic lives. But the secret to finding that calm and peace in your life is not in escaping the chaos, it is in fact in embracing it and standing in it. Running from the chaos does not teach you how to process it and how to work with it. It only serves to make you fear it and run any time it raises its serpent head. The next time that you are surrounded by chaos inner or outer, allow yourself to recognise it and let it continue to flow around you. Allow yourself to breathe and stand strong in the face of the mayhem. It is through sitting with these types of situations that we learn how to process them and free ourselves from their pressures and constraints.
