How often do you praise or encourage yourself for a job well done?We have been condition to praise others when they do well, to help build them up when they are trying to achieve things in their lives. This is something that is instilled in all of us from a very early age, from cheering someone on for building a sandcastle as a toddler to praising them for achieving career goals. But most of us are taught to not accept praise or reward. Right down to the simplest of things like that awkward, uncomfortable feeling as we sit there while all the people we care about sing us happy birthday, trying to make us feel good. Not only have we be conditioned to not accept praise from others, but we certainly can’t accept it from ourselves. It is seen as being self-centred and ego driven to accept and embrace praise and reward from others but especially ourselves.Today is the day to change that, when someone offers you praise or reward for something you have said or done accept the warmth of their comment and allow yourself to feel good about it and simply reply “thank you” in a correspondingly warm and sincere way. The same rule applies to yourself, when you do something good or make an achievement of any kind praise yourself and thank yourself for your work and your effort. Accept your own praise with enthusiasm and humility.Creating your tomorrow today.
