Habits and the three Hs…. the what?Research suggests that up to 80% of what we do every day is done out of habit. Let that sink in for a moment, the vast majority of what we do every single day is preprogrammed. It does not involve critical thinking or adapting to specific situations. Our habits determine our mindset, we react to similar things the same way every time, this is a reactionary habit. We approach things the same way each and every time we go to do them, this is a structure habit.But what about the three Hs? Our habits do one of three things in our lives and our minds, they can help, hinder or halt our progress in our physical lives and our mindsets and self journey.Now it’s time to look at your habits and how they affect you.-Do they help you to move forward in your day and get the things done that you need to? Did they make you happier or give you a sense of joy, purpose or accomplishment?-Do they hinder you? Slowing in your progress, you may still get the job done but will it be done later rather than sooner or to a lower standard than you would like achieve? Does it slow your journey of self-improvement? Making you delay goals and targets? Do these habits leave you with a lingering feeling of self-doubt or even self-loathing?-Do they holt you completely? Bringing any and all progress to an absolute standstill, do your habits prevent you from finishing things or even starting them? Do you find yourself surrounded by uncompleted tasks? Do your habits stop you from having the confidence to put yourself first? Do they robbed you of yourself worth and self-confidence?It’s commonly recognised that to create a habit takes 21 days of continued action. When we look at the habits that hinder or halt us we can unpack them and work out what it is within that habit that we need to alter to create a permanent change of the habit into one that helps us achieve the things that we want to both outside and inside.Habits are an amazing slave and a tool to achieve what we want with consistent repetition to the standard we choose, or they can become a destructive master that retards or completely stops our development and achievements.Today is the day to initiate changing your habits so they serve you to your best mates.
